The name Prince Eugen von Savoyen evokes rusty school knowledge.
He joined the imperial Austrian army in 1683 as a young man and the Turks were defeated by his regiment before reaching Vienna.

design, marble, gold and white stucco, projecting frescos and carvings decorated the palace and do so to this day.

The garden, in the form of a wide strip extending between upper and lower Belvedere , is decorated with statues of gods, stone vases, mythical Greek
creatures and a large basin with elaborate fountains and sculptures.

Prinz Eugen never lived in this magnificent building. Instead he used the building only occasionally for celebrations and glittering
receptions, held firework displays, concerts, balls, operas and court hunts.
The upper part of the Belvedere today houses the Gallery Belvedere with works of art
from the 19th and 20th centuries. The lower part is home to the Baroque Museum and the Museum of Medieval Art.
